Saving Money on Groceries Using Coupons

Posted by admin on Oct 12, 2009

No matter how frugal you may be, you are always going to have to buy groceries- we just can’t live without food! Unless you are a farmer and raise all of your own livestock and grow your own fruits and veggies, you are going to have to buy some food.

Saving money on groceries is actually easier than it sounds. The first thing to do is check out the sale flyers for stores near you. If you would rather shop at another retailer, find out if they match competitor’s prices.

Check the Sunday paper for coupon books. If you watch, you will find that items featured in this week’s coupon books are often on sale within a couple of weeks. Most coupons are good for at least a month- to keep them organized, you can purchase an inexpensive organizer or you can just keep them in an envelope.

Check the Web for Online Coupons. You can print coupons right from your computer and some stores offer the convenience of loading them onto your store discount card. A quick search will bring up numerous sites offering printable coupons, and some may even offer free samples!

Finally, be sure to sign up for frequent shopper discount cards where available. Many retailers reward you for shopping with them through larger discounts, free promotions, and even discounts on gas. With prices the way they are, who can resist saving twenty cents a gallon?

We all have to buy groceries but we don’t all have to spend a fortune. Check the flyers, look for coupons, and don’t’ be afraid to try the store brand. You just might be surprised!
