Racial Imbalance at the Free Store/Food bank….why is this?

We donate one weekend each Month where we work at our cities free food store. It’s a very large operation even running a full service food service that offer 2 hot meals per day to anyone. If you show up and say you are in need you can recieve up to 15lbs of food per day per family…NO questions asked!
After my 3rd year of doing this I have noticed a few glaring things that I don’t have an answer for. Our city has a 8.5% black population and this is what happens. All of the volunteers are white people and I’m mean ALL….and 99% of the clients (that’s what we call them) are black. We have asked some to help volunteer and none of them ever seem to want to help…just recieve. It’s rare to even get a thank you when you see the same people year after year…they really feel entitled and even complain if we don’t have certain products…they rarely take bottled water…they want pop, chips and junk food. We srve around 300 children each day with hot meals…they show up without parents from age 2 to 75 years old…same people everyday, free meal and bags of groceries. Every once in a while a white family comes and that’s a rare sight…they are generally treated badly by the black people who see them taking THEIR food that has been donated by white people. One one side of our building (race street) is for people donating…they other side (vine street) is the line to recieve…in other words whites on one side and blacks on the other.
why is this like this?
if you have "clients" that are rude to you while you are helping them out then why don’t you tell them to fuck off and give the food to someone else?
edit-look question asker, you shouldn’t ask these kinds of questions on yahoo because the people in here are retarded and PC…they are actually blaming YOU for not volunteering good enough!!! these people spend all of their free time on yahoo instead of volunteering like you do, and then they have the balls to tell you that you are doing it wrong
how about this, just take these yahoo peoples advice and stop volunteering, let those rude bums in your neighborhood starve to death for all you care

Well that’s called taking things for granted..Some ppl do the same when living here in the U.S. These seem to be the black ppl that don’t like to do anything…just receive. I wouldn’t call it racial imbalance. It just happens to be more white ppl giving & black ppl receiving. Maybe these, white, ppl shouldn’t give so much, or try something else..i’m sure they, black ppl, will get the idea sooner or later. Then again if you volunteer, you shouldn’t expect anything back from the person who’s receiving. It’s like going to Africa and feeding the starving kids, then asking them to give some of their food 2 you.

Where the heck do you live? I am black and I have never heard of this type of nonsense. I also have to much pride, to accept a free meal. Why don’t you just make some rules, that if you want to receive free food, you have to volunteer for 2-5 hours a month. Why are you feeding people everyday anyways? You are just letting yourself be used. Some of this sounds exaggerated. I hope someone would not send their 2 year old unattended to get a free meal. If so, you need to call child protective services on them. My best friend is white, and she goes to food banks faithfully, and I don’t. She has never told me that she was treated unfairly. I’m glad I don’t live where you live, the place sounds a little nutsy!

with your mindset you shouldnt be working in such an establishment. depressed poor people are irrational in their thoughts and action and as someone who works in such a facility you should have a child like angelic love and desire to help these depressed people without even noticing any of their flaws. you sir, are a wolf in sheeps clothing and you should vacate the post immediately for more ‘angelic willing to help humanity workers’
you are a very judgemental condescending person, and i am surprised you actually volunteer. what do you expect from poor, drugged out or, mentally sick people ? (cuz you gotta be mentally sick to go to a soup kitchen lol i dont care how hungry i am i am never gonna step in any of those facilities) rational behavior ?

It sounds like you should stop volunteering. You don’t have the right heart for it. If you think you’re buying your way into heaven think again. God sees what is in your heart and not what your actions are but your motivations. Most black people have too much pride to go to a food bank. I have lived without electricity because I couldn’t afford to pay the bill but I still didn’t take handouts. If someone is so desperately in need they have to put up with your condescension, God bless them.
