I am a 19 year old student working full time at 2 jobs. I live with my friend of 7 years in a one bedroom apartment in San Diego, CA. We still cannot afford groceries and while she receives some government help with food stamps, it just doesn’t cover the cost of food. I need help find other places to recieve very basic foods for free to get us through this month (pasta, rice, some meats or other protiens, etc.)
I usually hate hand outs, or asking, but I really need help. I’ve been letting the problem progress, waiting to "figure it out" but now we litterally have only condiments and a few slices of bread left to eat, but no money.
Please help us with ANY information about local organizations that might hand out food. I’ve also tried looking for some kind of soup kitchen with little luck.
I myself have gone over the income limit on receiving food from the San Diego Food bank by about $100- $200 a month for the past few months, and have been unable to qualify.
Please help us
You need to learn to budget. How you can work 2 full time jobs, only pay for 1/2 the rent on a 1 bedroom apartment, and not have enough money for food? Is she working 2 full time jobs? Where is your money going?!
In the meantime, you and your girlfriend need to call your family and ask for a loan. Maybe you can find some things to sell at a flea market for extra cash. Or best of all, one of you needs to get at least part time work at a restaurant or grocery store. You’ll benefit from the employee discount.

anyone know where you can get free stuff? there are sites that offer you free stuff but then you have to get a credit card or something. i am looking for a site that has free stuff with out all the bull. i am not a freeloader. i have a family and free groceries and stuff is helpful the way everything is so expensive these days. i don’t need a credit card or any of the other stuff., because it always ends up costing something. if any one has any hassle free sites thank you. best answer 10 points.
if you go to craigslist.com you can click on your city or the city closest to you, go under the "For Sale" category and click on "free". It’s free stuff from people in your immediate area. Be careful though, never go pick up anything alone, you never know who you deal with! Hope this helps!

Everytime I go grocery shopping I get this offer on the receipt to "Fill out a survey and be entered in a contest to win free Groceries".
But I’ve never heard of anyone winning free groceries. For all I know they want me to fill out their survey and nobody ever wins anything.
Should I bother? It takes about 20 minutes each and I’ve got a whole bunch of them.

Everytime I go grocery shopping I get this offer on the receipt to "Fill out a survey and be entered in a contest to win free groceries".
But I’ve never heard of anyone winning free groceries. For all I know they want me to fill out their survey and nobody ever wins anything.
Should I bother? It takes about 20 minutes each and I’ve got a whole bunch of them.
I wouldn’t bother-I’ve done a lot of these too & even sometimes try to inquire as to who the winners are and never get a response.
